:D

hello world, specifically the few fantastic Ontarians that frequent this website.

i have five minutes of free time, and so I will fill you in with what is new in my life.
not much.

I am still in Vancouver, and still very busy with school work. The work is fun and the city is great, which makes being here a lot easier. I still miss my pals from the East, but i expect we shall reunite soon enough. Time flies here, and I am already in to term 3, which blows my mind. I've been out of Ontario now for over four months. sigh.
This weekend we are shooting 10 short scenes, with a three hour shoot for each, which will consume most of my weekend, apart from coffee and Vitamin B breaks. Anyone looking for something to keep them energized throughout a long day - Vitamin B supplements. It was recommended by my directing instructor, and really helps. This is very boring, but there honestly is not much more. I wish i had something to talk about rather than just my life. Everything that i do is related to school.
i saw a man get hit over the head with a steel rod the other night... that is kinda intriguing. i drink a lot of coffee... I am looking forward to christmas, it should be fun.

bye for now,

Grant
.... sorry for this very lacklustre post... the nex twill be better. i promise.

Last Minute

I've been wanting to post something for a few days now but keep forgetting. But i am taking my laptop to ottawa in T-minus-an-hour-or-two to finally get 'er fixed. As some of you may know, shes a screamer. Last night i think i played enough risk to make me want to bash my fucking brains in. I dreamt about risk last night, about endlessly rolling the dice but nobody was going anywhere. It was horrible. I saw scott pilgrim the other night. It is now one of my favourite movies ever. I cant decide which is the best movie ive seen this year, its between scott pilgrim and inception. I am hopeful for the facebook movie too. I have one more week at the shit plant. I am working alone there now so its far easier to take naps, not that it was hard at all to begin with, so i expect it to go pretty smoothly. Then sunday im moving! Daydreaming about my own house has gotten me through some boring classes since grade ten. And although my house doesnt have the ball bit room, black lights, and bead curtains i always promised myself it would, its still pretty awesome. It would have been awesomer if i had bought that black velvet painting of an indian chief that i saw at a garage sail to go over the fireplace (i have a fireplace), but i just couldnt bring myself to do it. I was planning on riding my bike to school every morning but i went outside at 7 the other morning and it gets fucking cold at that time now! I did not realize that. I hate the cold more than anything, except the heat, and being a passenger in the car with grant. Oh sigh, that hasnt happened in a while. Grant when you get back your driving! Ummmmmmmmm so thats about all the news i have. Your not allowed to ask for news for another week now G-man. Although you wont be able to because ill be sans msn, and you'll probably ditch us all for you lady friend anyway. So bye.

SURPRISE! its a blogg! epic fails, procrastination & more!

Hello Alligators;

So there I was, sitting in my room after a hard day of slave labour at the factory, watching my subscriptions from YouTube, when the mood to blogg hit me. I'm not really sure why, but it did, so hear it goes...

First off, where the hell did this summer go? It's already freakin August and I havn't gone Fishing, Camping, Swimming at a beach, or Boating once yet. EPIC FAIL. Work is truly ruining my summer. The only thing i have time for is movies at the theatre, which are surprisingly not as fun by yourself (Kyle = EPIC FAIL....(Just kidding, Kyle = DECENTLY LARGE FAIL , Richard = EPIC FAIL #2 for leaving his cell at home) FYI don't see "The other Guys". Not worth it in theatres.) Now this doesnt mean that I have not enjoyed what I have been able to make time for this summer (ie Wonderland, Bar nights, RUSH concert and ComiCopia vids) its just disappointing to spend 5/7 days working your ass off, just to hand over your hard earned cash to a greedy school. Sigh. Fuck you tuition. Fuck you. Moving on.

Speaking of tuition (damn that was a good segue, NAATTT) after I paid my tuition deferral fee for OSAP, I assumed that the college would be sending me an application form for Res, since I hadn't found one in my admittance package. So I waited, and waited, and then I did what Kyle seems to not be able to do anymore but I do endlessly, I procrastinated. My parents told me I should call the school to find out when I'd get the form, and I said those two little words that every procrastinator says: I will. A month later and i finally decide that maybe i shouldn't put this off any longer. So in the process of looking the phone number up on line, I decide to see if there was any info on the res applications on the website. Low and behold, in rather small writing at the side of the page was a few bullet points. One of which says, “your res application form will be included in your admittance package”. Hold the phone, i got that back in April, and I didn't see a form. Hmmmmmm. Upon a second view turns out I did. Although in my defence, it was hidden better than the doorway to Narnia. In some stupid little booklet thing they sent with my admittance package, on the very last page was the form. EPIC FAIL #3. So i figured before i even bother filling out the form, i should call the school and find out what the room availability is. Enter procrastination for a few days. Eventually i called them and apparently there's a 100 person wait-list. Needless to say, or write (although I'm writing it anyways) I won't be living in res this year. I will be living on the streets of Toronto. PSYCHHHH, no i'll actually be livin with a friend I met at SLC, which is kinda bitter sweet. Sweet being that i get to live with a friend and not on the street or in some dirty apartment where the toilet is like right next to my bed, and there isnt even like a wall, or a curtain, or beads. Bitter being its now a 44 min bus commute to school everyday. EPIC FAIL #3.5.

Moving on to EPIC FAIL #4 (damn im good with these segues) I'm being audited...ish. I claimed the rent i paid when i lived in North Bay last year on my 2009 taxes. Last week i got a letter saying that i need to provide receipts for all months of tenancy or else i may be required to return a portion of my tax return. And here's the kicker: i dont actually have any receipts. So ya thats great. I got my landlords number finally, but iv still got a few more days of procrastinating before I call him.

Hmmm. this blogg seems more like a rant on my epic fails. EPIC FAIL #5.

On a lighter note, Im finally getting to go camping this weekend, which is a big relief! Its not really camping cause its in my cousins backyard, but im sleepin in a tent, and they live in the country so its good enough for me. My parents bought one of those multiple room tents and its actually pretty redic. Its 7’5” (or grant height) tall in the middle of the big room which is sick. Then theres 2 other rooms that are like 6’5” so its pretty decent. Ill probly end up playing music most of the weekend. My cousins and I are planning on writing an album, we’ve already got like 10 songs written, they just need lyrics. Since our band is called Metal Piece Theatre, we want our album to be like one big story where each song is a part, but we’re not really sure what to do it on yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well i think iv bored you guys to tears enough for today. Also i just realized that in writing this blogg iv successfully procrastinated going for a run for the third day in a row. EPIC FAIL #6.

Later Alligators
Rich

PS. Kyle Im still waiting for Origin of Species: episode 2, so there you have something to procrastinate now. be glad that i just made your day.

Moar Quotes

Because grant has fulfilled his obligatory blackmailed blog post, and I am a man of my word and clearly much more punctual about my blog requirements that grant. Here are, in no particular order, a few exerts from a saturday evening spent at richards last weekend.

"She's a stoner, im gonna call her everyday and say hey wanna fuck! I don't even care!" - Erik Bahm

"I can spell words you don't even know!"
- Kyle Thompson

"Fuck you ryan i'm peeing! Is this an apple tree?"
- Erik Bahm

"I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, Grants a miiiiiidnight toker."
- Ryan Burton (another classic gem burt)

"She knows how be-cute-iful I am."
- Erik Bahm

"Your brother is a very good looking man."
- Erik Bahm (to Ryan)

"A hug is not gay! It's a friendship!"
- Kyle Thompson

Upon recolection, thats mostly Erik making a fool of himself and me shouting at people. Some things never change.

Hi

The sun did not shine
it was too wet to play
so we sat in the house
all that cold, cold wet day

It rained again today in Vancouver. First time in about a month which is nice.
That is an excerpt from The Cat in the Hat, which BTW was the first book that I ever read on my own, with no parental assistance. I can remember running up the stair in my old house to announce to the world that I, Grant, could now read on my own. Although it did go something more like this:
ve sun deed noat shoine
it wos too we-at to pway
so we saat in ve haose
all vat coad, coad we-at dai

Nothing is really that new in the city. I am just finishing up with the sound edit and will be done with the documentary in three weeks. We are now in pre-production of our Independent Projects, and I think I am directing two short films in October; a comedy and a drama. Sooooo, if anyone is in Vancouver in October give me a call and you can be in one of my shorts :D which would be pretty sick, considering I miss all my Ontario buddys.

I think that is all for now.

so.

Bye

P.S I was almost shanked a couple weeks ago in the downtown east side.
that is all.

Summer

On my desk, and in various drawers of said desk are countless scraps of paper, mostly all ripped out of the same small sketchbook i got in my stocking two Christmas' ago. Upon these scraps are lists, of things to do. Chores, reminders, big things, small things, phone calls to make, things to look up on the internet. In a days work there are usually around 5 or 6 items written down. Upon the end of the day usually only 3 or 4 get scratched off, and scribbled over meticulously as to be sure that they cannot be read and their nagging memory is gone. The paper is then discarded as a new, updated version replaces it the next day, with the uncompleted items of the previous list nearer to the top and adorned with exclamation marks and underlines. A strange phenomenon has occurred though. The most recent lists i can find in the scrap heaps in my room are from months ago.

I have officially ran out of things to do.

Productive things to do that is. Measurable tiny goals that can be achieved within the day. My life is in order, i have a job, a place to live, no homework. No school or banking related paperwork to fill out. Nothing. This is a moment i have looked forward to for over a year now. You see ever since the end of high school i have always had something to procrastinate. First it was looking up university programs, then applying to university and scholarships, then completing my portfolio. Then sorting out my residence and osap applications ect. Then school, i even had an essay to write over Christmas break, which, by the way, i completed in 20 mins and got a C-! Through all those long months, even when i did nothing all day, the nagging guilt of doing so ate away at the back of my brain. I longed for a week or two of no responsibility. Now i have four fucking months of it, and halfway in im starting to lose it a bit.

I dont have a single fucking thing to do. I even invented pointless things to eat up time. I switched rooms with my brother, i painted my room, i have organized my drawers and shelves a few times now. I rearrange my computer desktop and wall paper daily. And still i cannot fill the few hours i have after work every night. Today an hour or two of simcity glazed over my evening quite nicely. Then it crashed. I had not saved. So i opened it up and did it all again. The traffic in the downtown core of "Contra" is moving quite nicely now im sure you'll be pleased to here.

So i sit here. Dreaming of september, when i officially move away from home. It's very exciting. Too exciting. Even more so when compared to the stagnant endless drone of summer in brockville. Im sorry for depressing you with my teen angst, but to be fair i only have a few more months of it left, and blog was at the very bottom of some old list i found. Desperate times.

PS. You happy now grant? It's your turn, and i have nothing other to do than remind you. :)

Star Trek Dubbed

Dubbed from kyle thompson on Vimeo.

This is something my a couple of friends at school and I have been trying to get done for months now. It didnt work out quite as well as i wanted. The beginning is kinda gay, and it sounds like the sounds glitching out when theres no audio clip playing, i had to edit in some background static in places. I wanna try doing another one, ideas?
